Our Rehearsal Philosophy

Our Production Commitment

At CAPA, we believe exceptional performances don't require overwhelming rehearsal schedules. Our production model is intentionally designed to balance high-quality theatrical training with the realities of family life, school, and other commitments. Unlike many community and professional theatre programs that require multiple evenings and weekends throughout the rehearsal process, most of our productions are rehearsed during students' regularly scheduled Academy and Conservatory classes. Only during the final two to three weeks before performances do casts transition into additional full-cast rehearsals, allowing students to bring the production together without months of demanding evening commitments.

Our production schedule is built around one simple philosophy: students learn best when they are challenged, not overwhelmed. By incorporating rehearsals into regular Academy and Conservatory classes, students receive consistent training while preparing for fully staged productions. Additional rehearsals are added only when they are most valuable, during the final weeks leading up to performances. This approach produces polished, high-quality productions while respecting students' time, supporting family schedules, and helping young performers arrive at opening night energized, confident, and excited to perform.

MONDAY 5:00-6:30 Perfect for young performers who love to sing, act, dance, and use their imagination! Students build confidence while learning the fundamentals of the performing arts through acting exercises, vocal instruction, character development, stage movement, and ensemble performance. Throughout the year, students apply their skills while rehearsing and performing in a fully staged musical production. Musical for the 2026-2027 season is Trolls Jr. All registered students will be cast. No experience is necessary—just enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.

WEDNESDAY 5:00-6:30 Designed for older elementary and middle school students ready to take their performance skills to the next level, this class provides focused training in acting, singing, stage presence, and character development. Students learn how to work as part of an ensemble while gaining valuable rehearsal and performance experience through participation in a full-scale musical production. This program encourages creativity, confidence, teamwork, and artistic growth. Throughout the year, students apply their skills while rehearsing and performing in a fully staged musical production. TUESDAY 5:00-6:30 For students who are passionate about theatre and storytelling, the Advanced Academy focuses on scene study, character analysis, improvisation, audition techniques, and performance skills. Students participate in a full theatrical production while developing the discipline and confidence needed to become strong, versatile performers. Our stage productions for 2026-2027 season is A Christmas Carol (Non-Musical) and Little Shop of Horrors (Musical). All students will be cast. No experience necessary-just enthusiasm and a desire to learn.

Students develop healthy vocal technique, breath support, pitch accuracy, tone production, performance skills, and musical interpretation. Whether preparing for auditions, performances, competitions, or personal growth, lessons are designed to help every singer reach their full potential. ACTING LESSONS - Private lessons provide individualized instruction tailored to each student's goals and experience level. We offer instruction in Acting, VoiceOver and Audition Preparation. Students have access to our recording sound booth and black box theatre to record audition reels. PIANO LESSONS - Students learn piano through a personalized approach that develops technique, music reading, theory, ear training, and performance skills. Lessons are tailored to each student's age, ability, and goals, creating a strong musical foundation while making learning enjoyable and rewarding. GUITAR LESSONS - Private guitar lessons help students develop proper technique, musical knowledge, and confidence on the instrument. Students learn chords, scales, rhythm, music reading, improvisation, and song performance while progressing at their own pace. BASS LESSONS - Bass students learn the essential skills needed to become confident musicians, including rhythm, technique, groove development, music theory, and ensemble playing. Lessons are customized to support both beginner and advanced players. DRUM LESSONS - Students develop rhythm, coordination, timing, technique, and musicality through individualized instruction. Lessons cover foundational drumming skills as well as advanced concepts for students interested in performance, recording, or ensemble work.

October 12–14 • 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. Ages 8–18 Can your production crew uncover the truth before the final curtain falls? A mysterious case has arrived at your production studio. Strange sounds have been reported after hours, props have moved without explanation, and performers claim they are not alone on stage. Your team has been hired to investigate the legends of a haunted theatre and create a paranormal documentary before opening night. During this immersive three-day Fall Break workshop, students become part of a professional film crew, working together to create a cinematic paranormal mockumentary inspired by today’s most popular investigative and documentary-style shows. Students will explore the world of filmmaking and theatre as they investigate the theatre’s mysterious history, capture evidence, conduct interviews, recreate legendary events, and produce a completed short film. Students will rotate through real production roles including: Director Camera Operator Audio Technician Lighting Crew On-Camera Investigator Actor/Interview Subject Production Assistant Editor Throughout the workshop, participants will learn documentary filmmaking techniques, cinematic lighting, camera movement, interview production, sound design, acting for camera, editing, and visual storytelling while collaborating to bring their haunted theatre investigation to life. THE ELF FILES: A Holiday Film Production Workshop

Ages: 8-18 Session 1: December 21–23 • 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. Session 2: December 28–30 • 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. Every elf has a story. What's yours? Have you ever wondered what happens after the lights go out? Where do scout elves really come from? What are they thinking as they report back to the North Pole each night? In this three-day holiday filmmaking workshop, students will create an original mockumentary that goes behind the scenes of life as one of Santa's scout elves. Each student will invent their own unique elf character complete with a name, personality, special job at the North Pole, and unforgettable holiday adventures. Working together as writers, actors, and filmmakers, students will write interview questions, develop hilarious backstories, film documentary-style interviews, capture cinematic B-roll, and edit everything into a festive mockumentary. Students will rotate through production roles including: Director Camera Operator Audio Technician Lighting Crew Interview Host On-Camera Talent Editor Throughout the workshop, students will learn story development, documentary interviewing, cinematography, lighting, sound recording, editing, and collaborative filmmaking while producing a holiday film they'll be proud to share. Ages: 8-18 April 5–9 • Monday–Friday • 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. Five Days. One Unsolved Crime. Your Story. A cold case has resurfaced, and your documentary crew has been chosen to uncover the truth. During this immersive five-day Spring Break Film Workshop, students will create an original mystery mockumentary from concept to premiere. Working together as writers, directors, cinematographers, actors, editors, and producers, they'll build a compelling story through documentary interviews, dramatic reenactments, cinematic B-roll, and professional editing techniques. Students will collaborate to develop the mystery, create memorable characters, write interview questions and dialogue, and produce a polished short film complete with titles, music, sound design, and visual effects. Throughout the week, students will rotate through professional production roles, gaining hands-on experience with: Story Development Screenwriting Directing Cinematography Lighting Audio Production Editing Sound Design Team Collaboration The week concludes with a Red Carpet Premiere, where family and friends are invited to celebrate the cast and crew and watch the completed film on the big screen. Every student leaves with real filmmaking experience, professional production skills, and a completed film to add to their growing portfolio.
